Sustainable Lubrication System Innovation, Driven by Customers
As industrial markets become more connected and sustainability-driven, customers are seeking partners who deliver integrated, forward-thinking solutions for efficiency at every turn.
Groeneveld-BEKA, a part of the Timken industrial motion portfolio, is making bold progress in helping customers address these emerging trends. The company recently added five new automatic lubrication solutions to its portfolio, including eco-friendly oil-based systems and an app-connected solution that sets the foundation for future Groeneveld-BEKA digital solutions.
“Customers are better positioned to meet today’s industrial demands and prepare for the future with our expanded portfolio,” said Diego Macario, president of Groeneveld-BEKA. “Using our collective engineering expertise, we’re focusing innovation on solutions that help customers stay ahead in a rapidly evolving market, whether that’s energy-saving lubrication options or access to real-time equipment performance data. There are many possibilities.”

Digitalization: a leap forward in efficiency
Globally, industrial customers are under pressure to meet carbon neutrality and other sustainability requirements. Recent Groeneveld-BEKA innovations are advancing end users’ ability to extend equipment life, reduce lubrication and energy consumption, and revolutionize their predictive maintenance — leading to a smaller environmental footprint and greater operational efficiency.
Digitalization is key. Groeneveld-BEKA software engineers recently integrated a smart phone app into the company’s new GPO oil pump solution for complex automatic lubrication in industrial applications. The app allows customers to remotely monitor lubrication performance, plan maintenance and ensure uninterrupted equipment operation from anywhere in the world.
“Data drives decision-making,” Macario said. “It’s the future of industrial maintenance and equipment performance.”

Groeneveld-BEKA engineers are also working with electronics partners to introduce additional smart products across the portfolio — transforming lubrication systems into highly-connected solutions that drive more proactive maintenance strategies across industries.
The company is currently developing a customer-driven pilot to test a global network of wireless capabilities in its Groeneveld Twin solutions — a line of large-reservoir automatic lubrication pumps that operate two lines at once to ensure operation even if one line fails. Twin products are engineered for applications like offroad mobile industrial and port equipment, where even brief downtime has a major impact on operational efficiency.
Oil-based lubrication: advancing industrial sustainability
In recent years, customers in mobile markets have transitioned to more oil-based solutions because they are more eco-friendly and biodegradable than their grease-based alternatives. By contrast, industrial customers have long preferred oil-based lubrication because it flows more freely through a system — improving energy efficiency and acting as a coolant.
Drawing on expertise in oil-based solutions for mobile applications, Groeneveld-BEKA engineers have developed novel oil-based automatic lubrication systems that meet industrial application needs while helping customers achieve energy savings and sustainability goals.

Expertise: supporting end-to-end excellence
Behind every Groeneveld-BEKA solution is a strategy that ensures efficiency and sustainability in how they are designed and manufactured in the first place. The company recently invested in automated manufacturing lines designed in partnership with strategic suppliers and monitored by highly skilled operators. Robotic-enabled manufacturing elevates the consistency of Groeneveld-BEKA’s high product quality and accelerates product delivery.
This emphasis on smart manufacturing enables more circular product development. Currently, Groeneveld-BEKA technical experts are working toward the goal of ensuring all new solutions feature 90% reusable materials within the next two years — aligning technical innovation with responsible design.
“We don’t see problems, only opportunities,” Macario said. “It’s what keeps us innovating for the future.”
