The Generation 3 is a self-retained unit (see illustration below) that reduces component count and simplifies assembly. Instead of conventional wheel-end-designs that use a thread and nut mechanism, the bearing and wheel are retained by the inherent design of the unit.
The forming process creates a single integrated hub and bearing unit that can be bolted directly onto the knuckle of light trucks and sport utility vehicles.
Increase system stiffness and integrity hold the bearing setting better than conventional designs – reducing runout and improving brake system life and vehicle performance. And, the design flexibility offered by Generation 3 allows for more robust components, which means a better overall wheel-end system and more satisfied drivers.
