Christopher A. Coughlin serves as executive vice president and group president and is an officer of The Timken Company.
Named to his current position in 2014, Coughlin has diversified Timken’s business through organic growth initiatives, advancements in product innovation and the pursuit of strategic M&A. He has grown Timken’s long-standing industry leadership and technical innovation in engineered bearings and expanded that value proposition into emerging markets such as renewable energy. Coughlin is credited with developing Timken’s global manufacturing footprint and extensive distribution network. His teams have delivered industry-leading quality and customer service levels and run Timken operations with greater efficiency to eliminate cost and drive performance.
Previously, Coughlin served as president of the Process Industries segment, profitably expanding the company by growing its share of distribution and aftermarket revenue. During that tenure, he also led the launch of a global SAP-based enterprise system that enhanced service and on-time delivery; improving the company’s working capital, efficiency and profitability which continues to differentiate us from the competition.
Coughlin was previously based in Colmar, France, where he progressed through several significant leadership roles including vice president of industrial equipment, vice president of process industries and vice president of primary metals. Coughlin began his career with Timken in 1984 as a metallurgist.
Coughlin earned a bachelor’s degree in metallurgical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and a master’s degree in business administration from Case Western Reserve University. Coughlin serves on the board of directors of the American Bearing Manufacturers Association.
