John R. Szarka is chief technology officer and an officer of The Timken Company. Named to this position in 2026, Szarka advances Timken\u2019s enterprise-wide technology strategy and resource allocation across the company\u2019s portfolio. This includes delivering product technology roadmaps for key markets, unlocking synergies between businesses, and leading Timken\u2019s strategy for AI, automation and data to improve decision velocity and resource deployment.<\/p>\n
Previously, Szarka served as vice president, product management for Engineered Bearings, where he was recognized for accelerating the competitiveness and profitable growth of Timken\u2019s Engineered Bearing portfolio. He led the product management, product development and manufacturing engineering teams to advance the bearing brand globally.<\/p>\n
Since joining Timken in 2005, Szarka has held a range of leadership roles, including president of Lovejoy and Torsion Control Products, optimizing operational efficiency and growth for several Industrial Motion product lines. He has also served as general manager of distribution and manager of regional marketing and channel projects in China. Szarka earned a bachelor\u2019s degree in mechanical engineering and a master\u2019s degree in business administration from The Ohio State University.<\/p>\n
