Tarak Mehta

Tarak Mehta is president, chief executive officer and a board member of The Timken Company.

Appointed to his role and elected to the board in September 2024, Mehta is responsible for the overall strategic direction and operational oversight of the company as well as building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders, including employees, customers, investors and community members.

Mehta is a seasoned global industry executive committed to advancing Timken’s industrial diversification strategy and accelerating profitable growth. He is an accomplished strategic leader with a proven record of delivering results, developing global teams and achieving operational excellence. Mehta’s focus on customer-centric innovation and market-leading growth strategies are key to advancing Timken’s global leadership.

Before joining Timken, Mehta served as a member of ABB’s Group Executive Committee and president of its Motion business. In 1998, Mehta started his career at ABB, a leader in electrification and automation, where he ascended to several positions of increasing responsibility in the United States, Sweden and Switzerland. Mehta also helped launch and lead the Energy Efficient Movement, an industry association formed to promote the use of energy-efficient solutions and technologies to save energy, reduce costs and lower carbon emissions.

Mehta earned a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Purdue University and a Master of Business Administration degree in finance and marketing from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
