Joe Gibbs Racing

Joe Gibbs Racing (JGR) is one of the most successful teams in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, having produced championships for Tony Stewart in 2005 and 2002 and Bobby Labonte in 2000.

JGR was formed in July 1991 by Joe Gibbs and his business partner Don Meredith after the two met in April of that year with Jimmy Johnson of Hendrick Motorsports and seven-time series champion Richard Petty to
discuss forming a NASCAR team.

Under Gibbs’ ownership, JGR has won two series titles, the 1993 Daytona 500 with Dale Jarrett, the 2000 and 2007 Brickyard 400 with Labonte and Stewart, and more than 40 Nextel Cup races.  Home Depot came on board as a primary sponsor in 1999 when the team expanded to a two-car effort with Tony Stewart.
