Integrated Wheel End 

In automotive applications, power loss occurs when torque is distributed from the engine to the wheels. The loss can never be eliminated, but it can be greatly reduced using Timken’s integrated wheel end – the next-generation power density solution. Our design features a lighter, smaller hub that transfers power to automotive wheels more efficiently than conventional alternatives. The result is better fuel economy, increased tilting stiffness and an overall better ride.

 

Design Attributes

  • Features a smaller, lighter-weight hub unit that enhances torque transfer at the driveshaft-to-hub interface.
  • Power dense design incorporates smaller bearings and seals, a roll formed, optimized gear drive hub and drive slines that have been moved inboard with the coupler.
  • Design reduces rotor runout, increasing brake system performance and improving ride and handling.
