Aerospace Bearings | Products & Services | The Timken Company

While based on standard configurations, aerospace bearings are designed to meet the unique requirements of the aerospace industry. Most Timken aerospace bearings are made from vacuum-arc melt 52100 or VIM-VAR M-50 steel and are normally manufactured to ABEC/RBEC 5 tolerances with high-strength machined cages.

Evaluation of the design criteria contained in the chart here will help you choose the optimum design construction. While no individual construction can satisfy all possible service functions, proper selection makes it possible to meet the most critical functions or conditions in each application. The chart rates each construction on a relative basis.

Ball Bearings

These bearings are specially designed to handle radial, thrust, moment, reversible thrust or combination loads as required.

Cylindrical Roller Bearings

Cylindrical roller bearings for aerospace applications are capable of handling high radial loads and a wide range of application speeds.

Tapered Roller Bearings

Tapered roller bearings can withstand high accelerations and de-accelerations, heavy loads and a variety of temperature and environmental conditions.

Spherical Roller Bearings

Spherical roller bearings are the preferred choice when operating conditions include heavy loads and difficulties with housing alignment or shaft deflection.

Aircraft Landing Wheel Bearings

Aircraft landing wheel bearings are the standard in main and nose wheel assemblies for private, commercial and military planes.
