Products That Contribute to Health and Well-Being
On any given day, doctors and medical professionals around the world depend on technical equipment to diagnose and treat patients. Our products are found in medical devices that require precision, accuracy and reliability – from advanced cardiac imaging to long-lasting X-ray tubes used in radiotherapy, radio-surgery and other life-saving cancer treatments . In fact, the world’s most powerful CT scanner relies on Timken bearings to capture still images of the human heart.
Despite dramatic medical advances over the past 50 years, the World Health Organization estimates that heart disease accounts for 30 percent of deaths worldwide and is the number one cause of death in the United States.
Timken is a trusted business partner in the consumer products market, helping customers to meet health and safety compliance standards. Our food-safe grease and engineered surfaces, together with our bearing products, help reduce friction in the equipment used in food and pharmaceutical processing facilities, which helps to minimize facility downtime, lowers operating costs and maintains a safe manufacturing environment.
Efficiency for Reduced Emissions
High temperatures, pressures and frictional forces in heavy diesel engines create unique challenges for equipment designers and end consumers. Timken® cold-formed steel liners replace cast-iron cylinder liners in heavy diesel engines, enabling a needed horsepower boost. The steel liners are thinner than the cast iron liners, providing increased displacement and more power without major modifications to the engine design. Although they are thinner, the steel liners offer increased strength with reduced pitting. That lets engines run longer with reduced maintenance.
Reuse, Reliability and Savings
When it comes to remanufacturing and repair, we provide customers with an environmentally friendly way to improve the return on their bearing investment. Our remanufacturing procedures restore a large bearing’s original major components using a fraction of the materials and energy required to manufacture a replacement. And, customers realize cost savings of up to 60 percent compared to buying new products -- both an economic and environmental benefit. We also provide reliability services and system condition monitoring to help customers reduce unscheduled downtime. With improved productivity and machine uptime, customers avoid costs associated with machine failure and save energy associated with starting and stopping.
