Community Involvement

Volunteer leadership remains a core part of our community support strategy, as well as our goals for talent development, benefiting the company and our communities. We're committed to encouraging and enabling our associates to be involved in their local communities, focusing on the things that are important to them both personally and professionally.

Timken associates donate thousands of volunteer hours through personal endeavors, company-sponsored events and community leadership. Some examples include:

  • On International Women’s Day, volunteers from Timken in Bangalore spent the day working with Habitat for Humanity to build homes for women in need.
  • In Jamshedpur, employees organized health service and medical consultation camps for a local community.
  • In Chennai, associates celebrated Children’s Day by visiting schools for underprivileged children and awarding prizes.
  • In China, Timken associates from Chengdu, Yantai, Wuxi and Xiangtan volunteered with Junior Achievement to introduce students to career possibilities and economics. Employees in Sao Paulo volunteered for the organization as well, encouraging students to stay in school and learn the basics of how a company operates.
  • Employees in Gaffney, SC, donate their time to host the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life event in their community. More than 10,000 people participate in the three-day event held on company property to raise money for cancer research.
  • Members of the Lincolnton, NC, management team donate one morning per month to “adopt” their local elementary school, serving breakfast to children who have displayed outstanding citizenship.
  • Employees in our Lebanon, NH, facility volunteer their weekends to help a local non-profit called COVER with home repairs that help reduce energy bills for local citizens.
  • Employees in Canton, Ohio, organize an “Engineer for a Day” event for local high school students who are interested in learning more about careers in engineering.
