When Timken Europe created its new safety and health team, the group’s first assignment at the Colmar, France, facility was to open the lines of communication with all associates.
“The team members needed a high level of visibility so every associate would know who is on the team,” said Bernard Felzinger, safety engineer – Colmar.
The team posted a group picture at each plant communication center and an individual photograph of department representatives in their respective departments. In addition, each member wears a safety team identification badge.
The team works closely with plant management to identify and evaluate potential risks, participates in injury investigations, recommends corrective and preventive strategies and follows up on their implementation.
“Team members work hard to win the trust of their colleagues,” said Bernard. “They lead by example.”
