Engaging in Every Way: Timken's Got Talent

The United Way campaign is a longstanding tradition at Timken. Each year, associates are presented with their community’s theme and a summary of needs, and they’re asked to give what they can. But a cue from television made Timken’s latest campaign at the Canton, Ohio, corporate headquarters a smash-hit success – one that broke through the company’s goal in record time.

Key to the campaign was a “star parade” of Timken employees who performed in a variety-series competition where people voted for their favorites with cash.

Ten final-round acts provided a command performance for 400 associates and family members at Canton, Ohio’s plush Palace Theatre, with performers Cheryl Copeland, Mia Macomson and Juanita Robinson winning over the audience with their medley of Motown-inspired songs.

The Canton event alone raised more than $16,000 toward the company’s local $500,000 goal, surpassed in just five weeks, which was a record for the headquarters associates in terms of funds pledged and campaign involvement. Already, Timken locations around the world are clamoring to get in on the act, confirming what the company knew all along – there’s no shortage of talent at Timken.
