Supplier Diversity 

 

 

 

The Timken Supplier Diversity Process collaboration between Global Inclusion and Global Purchasing -- is designed to improve our supply chain effectiveness and global competitiveness by leveraging diverse suppliers.  In doing so we will:

 

  • Continually seek to add diverse suppliers to the supply chain.
  • Support the diversity initiatives of our customers and suppliers.
  • Foster supplier development and continuous improvement.

 

U.S. Supplier Diversity Process

Suppliers in Timken Supplier Diversity Process must be certified as one of the following:

  1. Small Business
    • "Small" is defined by the Small Business Administration according to the Standard Industry Classification applicable to the business.  Less than 500 employees or $3.5 million in sales is common but not universal and is determined on a case-by-case basis.
  2. Minority Business
    • A business must be at least 51% owned, controlled and operated by one or more of these minority individuals.  These minorities currently include U.S. citizens who are African American, Hispanic, Native American, Asian Pacific or Asian Indian, as defined by the Federal Acquisition Register.
  3. Female-Owned Business
    • The business must be at least 51% owned, controlled, and operated by one or more females.
