Housings

Timken produces a range of housings including main cases, covers and bearing supports. Housings typically are cast of high quality magnesium or aluminum alloys and then milled and bored to provide the required internal configuration geometry and machined tolerances.

Design Attributes

  • Advanced four- and five-axis machining centers hold precise, complex volumetric tolerances.
  • Through-hardened or carburized steel bearing liners are thermally fitted and pinned to the housings as required.
  • A wide range of corrosion-protective finishes may also be applied to meet customer requirements.

Applications

  • Gearbox housings for rotorcraft, engines and fixed wing aircraft
