Special Bearing Steels

Bearing steels are used for ball and roller bearing applications and are comprised of low carbon case-hardenable steels and high carbon through hardenable steel.  Both low carbon and high carbon bearing steels exist because each offers a unique combination of properties that best suits the intended service conditions.  Many of these steels are covered by SAE-AISI designations.

Grade Designation Examples: ASTM-A485-X, 52XXX. TBS-9
