2.0 REMOVAL
Following service manual procedures…
2.1 Remove the wheels and tires.
2.2 Remove the brake drum.
2.3 Remove the hub cap and gasket.
2.4 Remove the spindle end fastener(s).
2.5 Remove the outboard cone from the hub.

2.7 Remove the old seal and inboard cone from the hub.
With certain designs, a portion of the seal will remain on the spindle seal journal. Be sure to remove this seal sleeve from the spindle without damaging the seal journal. Failure to remove this sleeve will prevent the hub from being installed properly and damage to the new seal will result.
2.8 Remove any hub cap gasket material from the hub face.
2.9 Remove all of the old lubricant from the hub assembly.
2.10 Remove all old lubricant from the spindle and wipe clean.
2.11 Remove rust and debris from the spindle threads with a wire brush, including the roots of the spindle threads.
